‘Rudolph’ ‘Christmas Story’ & ‘Rockefeller’ on Tonight
posted on Nov 30 2005

Rudolph
Two of my favorite Christmas movies of all-time air for the first time this Christmas season tonight. Which one will I be watching? Neither… I’ll be at choir practice.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer‘ comes on CBS tonight at 8:00 Eastern.

My all-time favorite ‘A Christmas Story‘ comes on at 8:00 Eastern on TNT.

Also, ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’ (the one where they light the big tree) comes on at 8:00 Eastern as well.

Random Links - Ski Version
posted on Nov 29 2005

I learned to ski on the side of a mountain in Alabama. The “resort” had one run, it was blown (fake) snow, and you got to the top by hanging onto a plastic bar attached to a motorized rotating wire.

Over my teen years, not one year went by without a weeks jolt to Colorado, West Virginia, or North Carolina.

However, things have changed and I’ve gotten busy. But for those of you headed to take on fresh power this year, some links for you.

The Answer Is ‘No’

XBOXI’ve recieved a few phone calls over the last few days by a few of you who wanted to see if I had purhcased an XBOX 360 to resell on eBay.

Nope.

The thought of hopping from Best Buy to Circuit City to Wally World, all the while looking over my shoulders to make sure no overzealous soccer-moms would jump me just didn’t appeal to me 2 days before Turkey Day.

Not to mention the fact that I didn’t see them selling for an exorbant amount of money. I was right.

However, Keith Vanzant [facebook] has one.

Shout Out: Samford Girls

SamfordA shout out to the “Girls of Holly Jaye’s Floor” at Samford University.

Evidently some of them are already big fans of the blog. Which tells me one of two things: 1) I’m getting more and more interesting as the days go by 2) Campus life at Samford is slacking severely.

But we all know that Samford is never boring… so, it must be me.

I say that we take all our leftover food, put it in a blender, and dare somebody to drink it!

Send In Your Stuff
posted on Nov 26 2005

I’ve already had a few of you sending in links (it felt like old times at JND) and now I’m submitting a formal request for the rest of you to do the same.

I spend waaay too much time online, so I run accross articles/videos/pictures/websites of interest all the time. However, I can’t find everything worth viewing.

Therefore, I’m asking you to submit whatever you would like to submit. Of course you’ll recieve full credit with your name on the blog for your contributions. But please understand that I cannot post everything, and I can only do so many articles as this blog is doing a wonderful job of keeping me from doing a lot a real work… but the blog is much more fun.

What I’m looking for:
- Christmas/Holiday Links
- Funny/Interesting - Videos/Pictures/Websites
- News Articles - I usually find these while most people are deep asleep, but every now-and-then I miss one.
- Opinions - Everybody’s got one… and if yours is good enough, I just might listen and/or post it.
- Self-Plugs - Let be be specific on this one. If you will be on television… if you met President Bush… of you recieve a Noble Peace Prize, then you have grounds to ask for a plug. HOWEVER, don’t send me any crummy entries from your blogs on topics of not-so-great importance. Leave the crummy blog entries to me.

The Old Has Gone, The New Has Come

When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I grew up, I put away childish things… and got a new phone.

For those slow to pick up on the first two sentences, I borrowed them… from the Bible.

I’m not sure that God meant 1 Corinthians 13:11 to describe my new purchase, but will forgive me because he knows I’m so fired up about the biggest news of the week:

I got my new phone in yesterday. And the small, yet no-frills LG 1200 is no more.

What features does this sucker have?
Email
Surf the Web (yes… to all you addicts, I can check my Facebook account)
Calendar
Text message (a feature I’ve never had before - gasp!)
Picture
Video
MP3 Player
Datebook (Well… you know what I mean)
Bluetooth

…and the list goes on and on (brag) and on.

By the way, I’ve actually never sent a text message before (seriously), so if you wanna be the first to recieve one from ole Lando… send one my way.

Top 5: Songs for Late Night Driving
posted on Nov 22 2005

The Bends
After selecting “Play All” and placing my iPod onto “shuffle” last week, I’ve made it through a substantial portion of my 2,000+ iTunes while attempting to increase the size of my triceps at the gym.

I think that most people at one time or another find themselves in their car, late at night on a random drive. It’s a great way to clear your head, and an even better

The best songs for late-night random drives:

  • High & Dry - Radiohead : The Bends
  • #41 - David Matthews : Live at Luther College
  • Say Hello Wave Goodbye - David Gray : White Ladder
  • Fast Car - Tracy Chapman : Tracy Chapman
  • Eve, The Apple Of My Eye - Bell X1 : Music in Mouth

The individual you see here is Jemere Hendrix, a University of Tennessee basketball player who was kicked out of school in October for being busted for marijuana possession.

He showed up at the Friday match-up between theUT Volunteers and East Tennessee State wearing this T-shirt.

    From Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer:

This would be funny if it weren’t so sad: former Tennessee player Jemere Hendrix wears a shirt apologizing to teamates, the fans, the coach, after getting kicked off the team following drug charges and an altercation with a football player. Okay, it’s a little funny.

A little funny, but you gotta give the guy a little credit.
