Took some notes from Mississippi State grad Avery Carlisle [facebook] and headed to Camden Town, in particular Stables Market, where Miss Carlisle sent me to a store dedicated to glow-in-the-dark clothing accessories, workers with scary hair, and techno music… loud techno music. Quite entertaining, and not at all what I expected.
I also followed her advice and made my way over to Notting Hill, Portobello Road and Portobello Market where I visited a bakery which specializes in American cupcakes… tasty!
On my way from Camden Town to Notting Hill I so-touristly stopped off at Abbey Road where the famous Beattles cover was shot. I watched some punk kid almost get hit by a car twice as his mother failed to take the picture of him crossing the road. “Gah mom! How hard is to take a picture!?!” he yelled in a upper-class, yankee accent.
I laughed… espcially when I crossed the street in front of him… ruining one of his shots. Gah, mom!
I bought an old, wooden cricket bat at the famous antique store “Alice’s.” While the bat was being wrapped, I made the mistake of calling it a “stick”, to which the husband-n-wife owner freaked and insisted that I call it a bat.
Sorry. I was just happy to have already known what “cricket” actually was.
Went to see Les Miserbales tonight.
Holy cow.
Seriously, the best stage show I’ve ever seen… maybe even better than Blue Man Group, but that’s like comparing apples and oranges, or the Mississippi State Bulldogs to football. [Landon starts a timer to see how long it is before and MSU fan mentions the #1 NCAA Baseball ranking.]
At Les Mis tonight, I sat next to a husband, wife, and daughter from Minnesota. After the intermission, the daughter (20-year-old college student) had to swap seats to sit beside me because she “couldn’t see the show” from her seat.
Yeah. Right.
Also, I saw the funniest thing last night on the Tube. I have a video… I’ll show you later.

Isn’t Les Mis the BEST! Ahh, I just loved it. And you have to admit, Camden Town and the Stables Market are pretty awesome. And although Cyber Dog is a very ODD store, I can totally see you wearing a hot pink space suit…very trendy.
6:07 pm on Mar 21 2006Consider the buzzer going off N-O-W!!! MSU is ranked #1 in the Mother Flippin’ Country! I’m sorry that MC doesn’t even have an athletic program to offer its students…besides intramurals. Oh, Landon….just suck it up, and enroll at State and get another degree. Geez, I’m tired of hearing you talk about how much you wish you would have gone to school there.
6:09 pm on Mar 21 2006The last time MSU played MC in baseball guess who won? That’s right! The Choc’s… oh sorry, Choctaws!
Im really glad you liked the show.. i was gonna be disapointed in you if you hadnt!
6:48 pm on Mar 21 2006OOOOOOOOH!
Great fact Russell.
Lest we forget, the last time Southern Miss played MSU in football, MSU lost as well!
Oh… and USM also beat Ole Miss last time they played as well.
My gosh, I’m ready for football season.
1:02 pm on Mar 22 2006Now who’s saying, “Wait until next season.”
1:52 pm on Mar 22 2006Oh, please on the MSU comments. Hey, we need encouragement every once in a while. It’s a good thing to be recognized for winning. Landon, by the way, there’s a guy from Jasper on the MSU team. I can’t remember his name, but his mom is a chiropractor in Jasper. And yes, Les Mis is the best. Phantom may beat it technically, but overall, it’s an amazing play! Aunt G
2:41 pm on Mar 22 2006Actually, Gail, there are two on the baseball team that are from Jasper. Trent Hill grew up in FBC and __________ Bowen. Landon, he is Renee Philpot-Bowen’s son; the chiropractor you went to.
8:40 pm on Mar 22 2006I read similar article also named Wrap-Up | because lightning bugs taste like chicken., and it was completely different. Personally, I agree with you more, because this article makes a little bit more sense for me
