It Has Arrived
posted on Sep 20 2006

What a wonderful Wednesday/Thursday combination.

Tonight I’ll be going to see one of my all time favorite bands, Snow Patrol [hear their music here]. A concert that was then wasn’t then was scheduled at the last minute is sold out. But of course… I’ve got tickets, baby. Danielle, Jenna and I leave in a bit to grab dinner and head to what I hope will be one of the greatest concerts I will ever attend.

Tomorrow night… well, that’s obvious as well. Season premiers of My Name Is Earl, The Office, and Grey’s Anatomy. Six Degrees is on as well. This is a substitute for all you lonely hearts who for some reason won’t switch over to NBC for the best comedy hour since the days of Seinfeld.

Oh what a glorious one-two weekday combination.

For those of you who don’t recognize the Snow Patrol name, you’ll recognize the music. Below is the Grey’s Anatomy music video as set to “Chasing Cars.”

Question of the Day: One For The Road
posted on Sep 20 2006

When you drive 2,600+ miles you vist a lot of gas stations. Which mean that you buy a lot of junk food that you don’t really need… but you really want.

Question:

What are the best snacks and food that go best with a road trip?

Yes, No
posted on Sep 20 2006

To answer your questions:

Yes – American Idol tryouts were in Seattle yesterday.

    No – I didn’t tryout.

I (currently) still have no desire to do it… for hundreds of reasons. The main one being I came to Seattle to be a stripper… not a singer.

Question of the Day: Over and Over

Since all these new fall shows and episodes are debuting in full force.

    Question:

If you could head to your favorite chair right now and turn on the television, what TV show would you watch epidodes of over and over for the remainder of the day?

    Weekend Round-Up
    posted on Sep 18 2006

While it will ever quite be “home”… I’m definitely beginning to feel more at home in the Emerald City. Jenna, Danielle, and I are still individually working our way through Grey’s Anatomy Season 2. Robert acts as though he’s just watching cause we are… but he’s slowly getting hooked. We’ll compare notes throughout the day as to locations in the show that we pass throughout Seattle. Seeing as most are within a few blocks of our house, there’s plenty of “hey, you know that scene where George is walking on the wall and he’s talking to Meredith” talk.

It’s funny. We’re a little goobie. Kiss our butts.

  • Friday night I, Jenna, and visiting friend Ryan grabbed dinner at (a place we’ll go eat when/if any of you ever come visit) Joey’s which looks out onto Lake Union. Salmon and steak were food of choice… and my gosh were they the best friggin’ choices we could have made.
  • Saturday, I caught my first Pac 10 game between Washington State and Baylor on Saturday. I actually attended the game with the head chef of Key Arena (where the Sonics play) and the head of food services for Key Arena. We romped through Qwest Field trying every food they had to offer. I was the poor sap who had to give my unbiased opinion on the taste, quality, and cost of food as I ate everything from skewered shimp to kung pow chicken.

    Poor me.

It was interesting being at a non-southern football game. The girls are pretty… but they don’t dress the same for games as they do in the south. This didn’t come as a suprise to me. It was just interesting to watch the Auburn game on TV only to be reminded of how college football in the south is more than the actual game… it’s more than the tailgating… it’s history, tradition, family, pride. I would venture to say that in the whole scheme of college football… the game is merely the fortune cookie to our kung pow chicken. And that’s alright by me.

    Auburn fans should be excited.
UAB fans should get ready for an easy win.
    State fans… well, you know.

Later Saturday night Jenna cooked some Italian cuisine… then we watched more Grey’s. I’m not addicted, but it is fun to see what all you girls (and guys) obsess over.

  • Sunday was spent watching the Seahawks move to 2-0 on the season. We (yes… I get to use “we” seeing as I’m paying taxes and have a Washington drivers license) have to get better this week. The Giants come to town next Sunday.

Started visiting churches. I started off right visiting Mars Hill. I’ve been listening to their podcasts for 5 months now. It was nice to finally listen to a sermon in person.

MC FootballEven without the top-ranked QB in the nation (he’s out for the rest of the year with ACL issues) the Mississippi College Choctaws stunned #21 Texas Lutheran on Saturday with a 28-21 win.

Check out this pop by defensive back Chris Proctor, as well as the other photos.

The Choctaws had an 80-yard run for touchdown and a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown on the day. I don’t want to speak too soon, but happy times are here again.

MC plays McMurry (2-1) next week in our first home game. By the way… Millsaps is 0-3.

UPDATE: They’re not in the top 25, but they did get a few votes.

  • Seriously… when are ya’ll gonna give Croom the broom? (Oh… and before you start with this “we only lost by 3″ junk, just remember: it wasn’t near as close as the score implies AND you “only lost by 3″ to Tulane… Tulane!)
  • Attened my first Pac 10 game Saturday. Verdict: Pretty girls, ugly football.
  • I spy a National Championship contender. UPDATE: This is disgusting. Notre Dame gets blown-out at home yet 3-0 Auburn beats #6 LSU and stays behind Notre Dame in the USA Today and AP rankings? I thought I was seeing things… as if they had failed to update the poll from last week. Just another reason I hate Notre Dame and the love affair the media has for them/with them. Nevermind. War Eagle. Southern Miss, to the top! State sucks… but not as much as Notre Dame.
  • I spy a Conference USA Championship contender.
  • Just where is Wofford, anyway? And HOW did South Carolina only beat them by 7?

Answering another from the “Stack-O-Questions” I will textually introduce you to my roommates and new found friends.

I’ll tell you more about the actual house at a later date.

Matthew : Matthew owns the house. He’s 27 and works in Seattle, Portland, and Spokane for Axis, a dental supply company. He hails from Northern California, Orange County, and San Diego. He attended the University of San Diego and lives downstairs.

Robert : Robert is a bio chemist, er somthing along those lines. Basically, he’s really smart but is the furthest thing from a bio-nerd. He attended Baylor and has a doctorate from UT Austin. He hails from Plano, Austin, and New York City. Robert and I live on the main level and share a bathroom.

Danielle : Danielle is Matthew’s sister. She’s 24 and lives upstairs. She studied biology at Chapman University in California. Right now she works at a pricey new restaurant on Mercer Island, however, she will be heading to nursing school within the next few months.

The Back House – We have a smaller “cottage” behind the main house.

Jenna : Jenna is Matthew’s other sister. She’s 22, went to photography school for 3 years and she’s quite good. Many of her works grace the walls of our house. She works at the same restaurant as Danielle.

Monica : Monica works for port/shipping company. Unfortunately I don’t know too much about her because we’ve only been able to talk once.

    Grey\'s Anatomy Cast

Just in case your weather is a little gloomy like it is here today (I spoke too soon) the second seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and The Office were released yesterday on DVD.

Danielle, Jenna and I started Grey’s last night, knocking-off two episodes… only 25 more to go… geeez.

Do yourself a huuuge favor if you haven’t yet seen The Office and pick up season two as soon as possible. You’ll laugh yourself silly all weekend.

Get to know both these shows as I’m sure they will be included in many of our Thursday night entertainment packages throughout this year.
