Sorry… No Podcast Today
posted on Nov 30 2006

I’m in Colorado and my microphone to do the podcast is in Seattle, so there will be no podcast on ‘Podcast Thursday’.

I know this totally ruins your day… the sun will not shine as bright… food will lose its taste… spontaneous outbursts of rage will take place… and it’s all my fault.

I’ll try to do one over the weekend. If you like… you can actually make suggestions as to what I should blab about. Hey… that’s not a bad idea. So, make suggestions below as to what I should ramble about. The winner will have their name mentioned on the podcast and receive a coupon for a free back rub from yours truly… unless you’re a dude… then I’ll give you a high five.

Confessions: Door #1… or Door #2

I went into the women’s restroom at Braum’s yesterday by accident. No one was inside… so no one knew… except me… I’m still a little ‘barrassed.

Blogging From My Cellphone: Real Men Cry

Blame it on the 20 degree winds… or blame it on the obvious, but you can’t help but tear-up when you visit the scene of a nation’s tragedy.

I just left the Oklahoma National Memorial for the April 19, 1995 bombing of Murrah Federal Building.

Incredible.

While most of us were young at the time, I know it still stands out just as vividly in your minds as it does mine.

There were very few guests on this chilly morn, so I basically had the entire memorial as well as the museum to myself. This made for an even more sureal feel to the moment.

I’ve since snagged a shake, fries, and burger from the famous Braum’s of Oklahoma… it was so insanely delicious that it made me tear-up as well.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to leave the great state of Oklahoma before this place turns into an ice cube. It’s been raining all day, and it ain’t getting any warmer.

…I think Carrie Underwood is trying to pass me on the Interstate.

  • New Ride
    posted on Nov 27 2006

I’ll be driving back to Seattle today in my new ride, a Chevy Equinox. I purchased the the automobile last Wednesday from Dad.

It’s a looong story, but I’m having to drive back through Mississippi en route to Seattle, so I won’t be taking the same route as last time. This actually gives me some sense of superstitious relief. I’ll travel through Mississippi to Louisiana to Texas to Oklahoma to Kansas to Colorado to Utah to Idaho to Oregon to Washington State. I have no idea how long it will take to get there. Chances are that I’ll encounter some snowy weather along the way, so that’ll slow things down a little bit.

This is a drive… and not so much a vacation/drive as the original trip back in August. So don’t expect much of a tour guide feel to any of these blog posts. I just hope I make it out there.

It’s snowing in Seattle, so I couldn’t have picked a better time to pick up an SUV. Ahhh, a car! You truly don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.

    { NOTE: Spunk looks really drunk in this picture, but he’s not. He can’t get drunk. No… seriously. He works for Lifeway Christian Camps and signed a contract agreeing never to partake of alcohol. No… seriously. Besides, at his size a half bottle of Nyquil would knock him out until next Christmas. I had to choose this picture ’cause David looked a little “fruity” in the other one. }

For the first time in more than a year, “The Family” - which is comprised of five of Mississippi College’s finest graduates (ever) - was reunited over the weekend in Jackson, Mississippi. We spent the night at Logan’s on Lakeland Drive, the Seattle Drip (ironically), then to the Pettus’ house until 1:00 AM where I then convinced the masses that a trip to Waffle House was the much-needed piece of the puzzle. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.

Between the five of us you’ll find 5 members of Who’s Who Among American Colleges & Universities, 4 members of the prestigious Mississippi College Mortar Board, 4 members of the Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Body, 4 Civitan officers, 1 Shawreth Vice-President, 1 SGA Campus Activities Board Chairman, 1 recipient of the once-per-year Founders Award, 1 SGA Chief of Staff, 1 Men’s Affirs Board Chairman, 1 member of the Hall of Fame, 2 Suma Cum Laude graduates, 2 Cum Laude graduates, one thank-the-Laude (me) graduate, and the 1st and 2nd runner-up of Mr. Mississippi College for the Class of 2003 - whew.

    O’Doyle rules.

Another thing… we’re not talking about the present haircut of yours truly. There’s a story behind it. There’s also a barber shop in Seattle I’ll never visit again. I like this hair… so don’t be surprised it you see this hat over the next few days.

Postponed, One Week - But Arriving In Time For Thanksgiving!
    posted on Nov 6 2006

In an effort to best secure all copyrights and tweak last minute issues, Eurosix won’t be release for 1 more week. I knew that when I set the November 7th date I was shooting for as a target that was almost unattainable… but I shot for it anyway, not understanding just how long the tweaks and twerks would take.

I’ve been unusually busy around here the past week (ie - going to bed at 4 AM as opposed to the usual 2 AM) and I want to do this to the best of my ability. Seeing as this snuck up on me as fast as it did to many of you… I don’t believe I’ll be receiving any death threats for the release of the book.

So, put your credit/debit cards back into your wallets/purses and camp out for one more week as Landon Howell Publishing presents the first product in its best possible form.

get ready for a blitz over the next few days… you’ll know when it’s next Tuesday.
