Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Can you believe it? Those of you who don’t watch LOST probably aren’t aware, but in last night’s episode, we find out that Sawyer was from (drum roll, please) Jasper, Alabama. It’s already been added to Sawyer’s entry on Wikipedia… and I’ve added it to Jasper’s page on Wikipedia as well.
Sawyer is talking to Locke’s father when the following conversation takes place:

Sawyer: “Have you ever been to Jasper, Alabama?”
Locke’s father: “Why?”
Sawyer: “Have you, or haven’t you?”
Locke’s father: “Yeah, I’ve been to Jasper. Don’t tell me I’m your daddy.”
Sawyer: “No… you killed my daddy.”
I froze. Why Jasper? I always wonder why Hollywood choses random cities to receive mention in television and film. Do we have a former Jasperian (Jasperite?) on the inside? I don’t care what the story is… I’m just pumped. Jasper — my hometown — was somehow weaved into the fabric of the best storyline ever to appear on television.
I’m still in shock… discuss amongst yourselves.
Ahhhh…I KNOW! I almost shot milk out of my nose! I thought I was hearing things, then they said it like 5 more times! I was freaking out. I really hope we find out why they chose Jasper.
So does that imply that Sawyer was born in Walker Baptist (like me)? Landon, this also means that your blog will get a ton more hits today!!!!

Who would have thought, New Yorkers…excited about Jasper.
1:23 pm on May 3 2007I doubt that it is related, but back in the 80s Walker County was mentioned on one of the news magazine shows as one place you could go to hire a hit man. I believe they mentioned beat #10 as the area. And I believe that you could have had it done for as little as $500.00.
Hopefully, this is only part of the folklore of the past of what has become a utopia.
