Ahhh, The Week Of Fun Is Over
posted on Jun 29 2007

It’s been an interesting week around these parts. With the break-in to my car that resulted in a stolen laptop… to missing a back window in my car during a rainy week in Seattle… to a hillariously funny (yet highly embarassing) story from work that I will gladly tell for the rest of my life. Sorry for the crappy posts and crappier questions… it’s just been one of those weeks.

I should be back on my blogging feet next week, which is good… because it’ll be a slow week at work for most of us.

I’m heading to pick-up the next generation of Howell laptop today. Rest assured it will be fitted with a series of locks-n-chains, which will then be attached to a state-of-the-art fanny pack. Next time, the theives will have to take me too.

Alright everybody… enjoy the weekend.

Pop? Seriously? What… are we in a 1950’s TV show, er something?

Here’s a state-by-state comparison. Don’t forget to place your own vote.

    These Things Happen…
    posted on Jun 24 2007

    smashed

Last night, my car was broken into and my laptop was stolen.

I was en route to a party and swung by a freind’s apartment to pick them up. I went upstairs, and within 30 minutes… in broad daylight… in the middle of safe Seattle, someone knocked out my backseat passenger-side window, grabbed my black laptop bag (with my laptop, journal, and Bible… yes, Bible) and made off without anyone noticing.smashed

    These things happen, folks.

If you know me well enough, you know that my laptop is my baby. It’s the first thing I grab in the morning aside from my Bible and my… well… nevermind. When Katrina hit Mississippi in 2005, I could only run 2 items off our battery… I opted for the TV and my laptop… leaving me without a fan.

My laptop was my baby. From Mississippi to Alabama to Seattle… when I was jobless without a car, I still had that freakin’ laptop.

But it’s just a laptop… and there are thousands of people all over this world who only wish their greatest concern today was a missing laptop.

Luckily, the majority of my photos were backed-up in another location. My iTunes library can be retrieved in a moments notice once I get a new computer. However, random items were not backed up… and they are gone forever.

If nothing else, let my experience be an encouragement for all of you to swing by Best Buy today and grab an external hard drive to save all of your info.

The Howell Family Curse of the Cars never seems to end.

Landon Howell iMix Volume 2In the second installment of the iMix, I’ve narrowed the song from 16 to 10. That way you can feel a lot better about spending less than 10 bucks on great music. Again… some are old, some are new; though I wouldn’t put them in here unless I thought you needed to hear them.

    Happy Birthday Paul!
    posted on Jun 18 2007

Today is Paul McCartney’s birthday. Well… I’ll just let Ernest tell you about it

“…in conjunction with that and the release of his new album Memory Almost Full, from Starbucks Hear Music records, fans around the globe, including in London, New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Miami gathered to pay tribute to his music and wish him a very happy birthday! From those gatherings we created this video:

Also there are some celebrity appearances: Mike Myers, Ellen DeGeneres, Randy Jackson and Eddie Izzard.

I was one of the producers on the project. So if you like Paul (and who doesn’t? okay I can think of one person) check it out and wish Paul a Happy Birthday…”

Ernest won’t take any of the credit, but he was in charge of editing this little vid. I was supposed to be in the video (seeing as they filmed in a Starbucks right next to my office building) but I didn’t…because I didn’t check my voicemail… thanks anyway though, Ernest.
