I saw this on Aaron C’s blog.
Alabama loses, Auburn wins, Seahawks win, Boston clinches, Mariners take two, State makes us giggle.
Question:
-
What’d you do this weekend?
Just in case you haven’t heard/voted yet… we get to decide the fate of Barry Bonds’ record-breaking homerun ball.
Question:
-
It’s just so awkward… what do you do when riding the elevator with a complete stranger?
Question:
-
What’s your favorite cookie? (Yeah, it’s a stupid question… but you KNOW you’re thinking of one.)
Another installment of great stuff from a great site. (There’s one for you girls, too.)

In a shocking win (where Coach Croom can thank stupid Auburn play calling for his first SEC win of 2007) the Maroon Bet here on lh.com moves to 2-1.
Thanks to all you State fans who were so excited about the win that you text messaged/called me all Saturday. It must be fun to win a game… the rest of us have this “event” happen nearly every weekend… we’re excited for your “win”.
What does this mean for the Maroon Bet?
Let’s break this down… not because State fans are dumb… well, actually, maybe some of them aren’t so sharp after all.
This means that if State wins just 4 more games this year, I lose the bet. Let’s take a lookie at the rest of the season.
Sat, Sep 22 – Gardner-Webb*
Sat, Sep 29 – South Carolina
Sat, Oct 06 – UAB [HC]*
Sat, Oct 13 – Tennessee
Sat, Oct 20 – West Virginia
Sat, Oct 27 – Kentucky^
Sat, Nov 10 – Alabama
Sat, Nov 17 – Arkansas
Fri, Nov 23 – Mississippi*
(*Notes a “should win” games. ^Notes a “could win” game.)
I know the response I’m going to get (and have already received) from some in the Bulldog nation: “It doesn’t matter how we do during the rest of the season… WE BEAT AUBURN!!!” Yep… and in ’04 you beat Forida and in ’06 you beat Alabama. You remember how depressed you were after those seasons? Now… get over a win against a mediocre team and think about your cupcake game versus Gardner-Webb this weekend.
Not to disrespect Auburn… but they’re no powerhouse this year. Narrowly escaping Kansas State and losing to South Florida (who had a chance to beat Auburn by much more) aren’t signs that you’re contending for a National Championship. But hey… it’s an SEC win for State, and those don’t happen too often.
All that said… congratulations to Mississippi State. Good luck during the rest of the bet… you’re going to need it.
