Happy Halloween, Homies
posted on Oct 31 2007

We hope your pumpkin is carved and your candy bowl is ready by the front door.

To the right is a picture from 19(80-something) when yours truly went dressed as a ferocious Mississippi College football player. (Please note the ‘Mississippi College 20??’) Ahhh, the days of trick-or-treating are gone… oh crap, some of you people have kids, don’t you? Well, personally we can’t wait for the day to dress our kid up like a pumpkin, drag him door to door, then put him to bed only to stay up watching Conan while we pick out the Snickers and throw away the Bottlecaps.

Being that it’s Wednesday, we’re not quite sure how much “party-ing” will go on in anyone’s neck of the woods. However, should you chose to throw on a Tinkerbell costume or or slap on a baseball cap and claim to be a “major leaguer”, we hope that receive you lots of treats and little tricks (I hate that phrase).

We also remind you to remember the line from the teen classic, Mean Girls:

“Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.”

    - Cady Heron

…be careful… and don’t be sluts.

Here’s the opening theme from an old program which Aaron and I would drop our trick-or-treating bags in order to come home and watch. It’s nothing special, but I hope you remember it.

I’ll trade you my Bottlecaps for all of your Milk Duds.

We took this past weekend to head into the great unknown for a camping trip out on Whidbey Island at Deception Pass State Park .

    Here’s a little slideshow.

THE GOOD: Yours truly picked a spectacular camping spot just 200 yards from the beach. We watched the sunset, propped on a piece of driftwood, then headed back to make a fire while the sun disappeared behind the Olympic Peninsula.

THE BAD: It got down to 38 degrees… which didn’t include the wind coming off the Puget Sound.

From what we can figure, we got a combined 4 hours of sleep. Needless to say, it’s tough to get sleep when your eyes are frozen open.

The sun couldn’t come up fast enough as we took the opportunity to use the first ray of daylight to pack our gear, warm up the car, and head 9.6 miles to the nearest Starbucks.

Even still, it’s hard to beat a good night out camping with a fire, food, and a view.

Well, we were camping over the weekend so I had to get score updates from my Treo. Needless to say, I was quite surprised by our ‘dogs (DAWGS!)…

  • Mississippi State is on the cusp of winning the Maroon Bet. The dogs dominated Kentucky, moving to 5-4. They only need one game to “win” the bet. I’ve never seen so many people excited about the possibility of finishing the season at the .500 mark.
  • Auburn beats Ole Miss fair-n-square (ie-the refs didn’t give them the win)
  • The Walker Vikings clenched home field for the first round of the 5A Alabama playoffs.
  • MC QB throws for 482 yards - Choctaws move to 6-2
  • It’s nice to see USF lose… I don’t know why, but it makes me happy.

  • Is This The Best Season Ever?
    posted on Oct 26 2007

Though some have disagreed with me over the last few weeks, I still believe this is the best season yet of The Office.

Like many of you, we recite lines in our own office amongst our coworkers during the work week, even using episodes like ‘Traveling Salesmen’ as examples of how to deal with certain business situations. I think that the 1-hour episodes are having a huge impact on the quality of the show. The story lines have the ability to take more shape. The episodes always seemed rushed in a 30-minute format.

Just a reminder, you can catch up on this season by watching all episodes for free on NBC’s website; this includes last night’s episode.

There’s actually an Office convention in Scranton coming up. More details at the official website.
