…is two months away.
So this All American Football League intrigues me (as do all start-up football leagues).
The AAFL:
- “League teams will employ only those players who have both completed their college football eligibility and earned a four-year degree. This policy is expected to have a very positive impact on universities’ NCAA Graduation Success Rate and their Academic Progress Rate. To the extent practical, graduates of host universities will play for the team hosted by their alma mater.”
…whatever that means. Anyhow, they had their draft over the weekend. The Alabama team has to former Southern Miss players on it… and I don’t recognize either one. Does anyone else recognize any name on this list?
Will one of you PLEASE plan on attending - and photographing - the inaugural game in Birmingham on April 19?
8 minutes and 15 seconds and you can watch with the rest of us tonight.
I watched it… and it’s interesting to look at the show from that angles, because it just sounds like a huge list of tiny events… the culmination of which is the single great show in the history of television.

I’ve only read through parts of this, but it’s a quite convincing theory of LOST.
I’d read more except for 1) I don’t want to risk spoiling anything, and 2) I felt like a super-nerd 2 paragraphs in.
When my dear friend David Ash (and by ‘dear friend’, I simply mean that I wanna be his pal when he’s elected governor of Mississippi) asked me a few months ago if I’d photograph his December wedding, I was a little taken back, because… well this photo crap is just for fun. I’ve never been paid a dime for any of my work that was published or recognized. Plus, photographing London at my leisure and documenting the most important day of someone life are two completely different things.
Both David and Susannah were incredibly gracious. They wanted candid, fly-on-the-wall photos that were more of a photo journalism-esque take on the day without all the “hey guys - light the Unity Candle and turn towards me and smile” moments. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that… but.)
Basically everything you see was them simply being themselves… no cheesy or posed, cliché photos. It was freakin’ fun.
And while I took over 2,000 photos (yes, 2K - don’t know what I was thinking) I’ll spare your eyes the focus and my website the bandwidth through only posting a select few below.
Sylvester is not happy. Just look at him - he’s all “Hey I won 8 games, grrrrr.”
48 hours after my announcing the spoils of the Maroon bet, and my inbox looks like Starkville on a Friday night: empty and covered in spam.
NO one. I repeat, no one Mississippi State graduate/current student/rabid fan who reads this blog has sent me an email with their free blog post detailing their love for Mississippi State.
I know you guys/gals are reading… you email me twice a day to notify me to my spelling errors.
From Birmingham to Boston, New York to Los Angeles, Jackson to Jasper… you guys read, represent, yet you do not write.
Just to restate: this doesn’t have to be 500 whole words… 500 is just the maximum. I know you guys understand 500… because your football team just finished above .500 for the first time since Bush took office.
SO. Understand that I am taunting you. I am still laughing about the Maine game right now. Ok… now everybody on the blog is laughing at you. No one likes Mississippi State. We are laughing at our desks. Our bosses are now laughing with us.
Please. You won the bet. Take advantage of this opportunity to rule the blog for 1 week.
You’ve seen the TV spots for quite a while now, and while I’m a Dick’s man myself, Burger King’s advertising agency is brilliant.

From the site I love, full of crap I can’t afford…
These are nice little pick-ups for the rabid fan in you…
I’ve mentioned Jeremy Cowart before. He’s an incredible photography based in Nashville, TN. He recently updated his website and I highly suggest you take a look to blow 45 minutes of your time at work today.
New Kids: Back on the Block?
