Just an FYI.
Car sinks after woman mistakes frozen pond for parking lot.
The first coeducational university to grant a degree to a woman is 182-years-old.
That’s a lot of effing candles.

Extreme Home Makeover makes me cry. I realize this post, coupled with this post, makes me as cool as a college Junior at a high school prom… but when they put an elevator in the house for a man with no legs… man.
Jody Gambrell sent this my way yesterday — it made my week. My guess is… this is M-Fuge ’06, Belmont. All folks in the photo were members of the youth group at Jasper’s First Baptist Church.
Major points to whoever can identify all 15 faces in the shot.
Big announcement from USM. Virginia will travel to Southern Miss next year. Beats the heck out of Bama’s home-and-none series.
Southern Miss will face Virginia in a home-and-home series which is slated for the 2009 and 2011 seasons. The Cavaliers will travel to Hattiesburg on Sept. 19, 2009, while Southern Miss is making a visit to Charlottesville, Va., on Sept. 24, 2011.
Virginia to Southern Miss first? Impressive. (And just in case you’re wondering… yes, the game is actually on a Saturday and isn’t a part of ESPN’s Tuesday night Extravaganza.)
Maybe one day we’ll be good enough for Maine to make the trip to H’burg.

The Walker County Commission on Monday adopted its new bingo rules, tacking on larger fees but still allowing electronic bingo to continue in the county areas outside of Jasper. “We just felt we were tired of seeing the paper write articles on it, tired of seeing TV stations talking about coming to Walker County to cover the bingo vote. We felt like with the community and the commission, we needed to pass it today and move on to other things,†Commission Chairman Bruce Hamrick said.
So I was channel surfing last night when I ventured into the uncharted waters of MTV which was airing America’s Best Dance Crew. Sounds stupid right? Nay.
A group called JabbaWockeeZ is far and away the favorites to take the competition. Or, as the kids say: “Dat be sick, yo.”

It has been a little while since I’ve connected in the Denver International Airport. Anybody got any suggestions as to where I should eat dinner?
A lot of you are more outdoors-y than myself (though I do own a Northface vest) so i’d thought you’d be interested in hearing about how to brew coffee, even espresso, in the woods.
Last night’s game was 42 degrees and very upsetting. But tonight is Ichro bobblehead night… so we’re guaranteed to come home a winner.
Good morning kids. I’ve been a little under the weather over the past few days, so sleep has taken precedence over content. I wish you all the best over the weekend. I get to help someone move in 39 degree weather with rain/snow/sleet/ice/bears/aliens – the things we do for the ones we love.
Last weeks’ poll revealed that the random links are the most popular feature (which makes yours truly happy, because I love diggin’ ‘em up) therefore I decided to give you a fat stack to slowly peel through during this Friday.
See you on Monday.
Hope your weekend went well — it’s only 4 more days until football season.
I also hope your weather was better than ours… let’s hope rainy weather isn’t here to stay. The clouds opened up long enough to get in a hike to visit one of the best falls in Washington state, take new Seattleites and MC Alumni, Clay & Emily Taylor to dinner in Bellevue, had a big old all-you-can-eat-buffet Sunday, showed Chelsea that fancy high school from 10 Things, and tasted one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had in a while (in Tacoma, of all places).
