Mississippi College graduate Michael E. Dowell, who works at the Smith Barney office in Jackson, is one of the top 1,000 financial advisers in America, says “Barron’s” magazine.
We’re heading to Canada tomorrow for the day, though taking a personal vacation while at the office is something we can all appreciate.

(Awwwwwwwwww.)
“If you would not confront your neighbor and demand his money at the point of a gun to solve every new problem that may appear in your life, you should not allow the government to do it for you.”

Bill Clinton declared more than a decade ago “the era of big government is over.” With his new budget, President Barack Obama has brought it back.

I’ve never read the comic book, though the only people who have provided bad reviews (primarily with the ending of the movie) are those who have read the comic book.
Aside from the ending, they have good things to say.
Via The Guardian…
Pundits have been impressed by the film’s detailed canvas, its adherence to the storyline followed by the original comic - which centers on a world threatened with imminent nuclear apocalypse - and its refusal to stint on scenes of a sexual or violent nature. This is an 18-rated superhero movie which makes last year’s famously brooding Batman sequel The Dark Knight look like Alvin and the Chipmunks.
For you Lost fans… chew on this:
So, is Locke really “special” - or do Ben and Widmore understand that this is the best way to manipulate him to do their dirty work? Are the Losties just pawns in a bigger game? And is anybody dreading next week’s big Sawyer/Kate reunion as much as I am?
Article: Lawyer says Guantanamo abuse worse since Obama
Abuses began to pick up in December after Obama was elected, human rights lawyer Ahmed Ghappour told Reuters. He cited beatings, the dislocation of limbs, spraying of pepper spray into closed cells, applying pepper spray to toilet paper and over-forcefeeding detainees who are on hunger strike.
Article: Beijing’s Olympic building boom becomes a bust
My favorite sports blog had the best comment:
Beijing’s 91,000-seat Olympic stadium costs $9 million a year to maintain, but will host only one event—an opera—in 2009 and will eventually be turned into a mall. I hope it has a Sbarro!

They’re mixed:
The multi-million dollar comic book adaptation Watchmen, one of 2009’s most eagerly awaited films, has had its world premiere in London, and reviews generally cast the movie as classy but no classic.
What is this? I’m excited to see something via The Huffiington Post?
“For those just watching Watchmen for the Watchmen, without any expectations or knowledge of the comic’s storyline or historical importance, this really will be a blast,”
…do you wanna to be my new man crush?
Fellow conservatives: get ready for crap like this over the next 4 years.

For the first time since Gallup began tracking Barack Obama’s presidential job approval rating on Jan. 21, fewer than 60% of Americans approve of the job he is doing as president. In Feb. 21-23 polling, 59% of Americans give Obama a positive review, while 25% say they disapprove, and 16% have no opinion.
Table Tennis Team Returns to Nationals in Minnesota
Mississippi College’s Table Tennis Team will return to the national championships in Minnesota after its solid victory in Saturday’s Dixie Division tournament.
MC’s team consists of five players from China, two from Mississippi, and one each from Taiwan and Venezuela. WJTV-Channel 12 and WLBT-TV 3 captured some of the ping pong action during their weekend television broadcasts.
I’ve started another two (in addition to 8 I’m still picking through as well). I never thought I’d want to spend this much time with my nose buried in a book.
What are you currently working on?
I’ve only met a handful of UWA grads in my life… much less a UWA grad in Seattle. And she’s from Michigan. Go figure.
What? The University of West Alabama? Never heard of it?
