It’s always fun to see Jasper change. To watch it attempt to reinvent itself every 6-7 years.
Drivers motoring toward Jasper on Industrial Parkway have likely noticed a new electronic billboard welcoming them to town with the words “Our Doors Are Always Open.â€
Mayor Sonny Posey, who had a hand in fine-tuning the billboard’s language, said it is not meant to replace the city’s slogan, “Working People Working Together.†Rather, it is an advertising promotion directed at both casual visitors and business officials who come to Jasper.
Mom and Dad are in Jackson, MS for the day, and I couldn’t help but reminisce about post-college lunches with many of you when we used to rendezvous on a seemingly daily basis.

Just in case the unspoken has to be explained to you… you’re now seeing Bobby Jindal’s first big push for President in 2012.
He’s just as likable as Obama. The only difference is, Jindal knows what the he’s he’s doing.
Even Ichiro hops into the conversation…
In 1993, 16 years ago, I bought a Ken Griffey Jr. jersey. This is one of my treasures to this day. He has always been a hero to me, and being able to play with him is like a dream come true. Now we share a dream: and that dream is to work hard together and win a World Series.
(PS – Ken Griffey Jr. has now been given his own tag on LH.com.)
Last year Chelsea and I attended 20+ Mariners games. Even with the economy the way it is, everyone in Seattle might be attending at a record high in 2009.
The Mariners sold more than 16,000 tickets on Thursday as fans reacted to the news that franchise icon Ken Griffey Jr. was returning to Seattle.

3 years ago today I was finishing up week 1 of the 6-week Eurosix adventure. My location? Switzerland.
Right now I am in Bern, the capitol of the Swiss, and I could not be happier.
A city of 130,000 people, yet at 9:00 PM there is hardly a car on the street and everyone is walking and riding bikes.
“I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn’t resolve. But I was outside the Baghdad Theater in Portland one night when I saw a man playing the saxophone. I stood there for fifteen minutes, and he never opened his eyes.
After that I liked jazz music.
Sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself. It is as if they are showing you the way.
I used to not like God because God didn’t resolve. But that was before any of this happened.”

Obama victory bash owes city $1.74 M
Chicago has yet to recoup the $1.74 million cost of President Obama’s victory celebration in Grant Park — despite a burgeoning $50.5 million budget shortfall that threatens more layoffs and union concessions.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Gawwwwwwwwwwwwwwd.
I’ve refrained from speaking about the on-goings surrounding the potential return of Griffey for fear of jinxing what has become one of the best days of my life.
All guys have man crushes. It’s true. If a man won’t admit to having a man crush, it’s only a sign that he has the ultimate form of man crushes: homosexuality.
My crushes were have always been Dale Murphy, Ken Griffey Jr., and Brett Favre. But being in Seattle the last two years helped me realize just how crucial Junior is to this city. Without Griffey, the Mariners as we known them today might not exist. Many in Seattle argue that, without Griffey, the Mariners wouldn’t exist at all. But they do exist, averaging 28,000+ despite the worst record in 2008 in the best MLB ballpark I’ve ever experienced. ‘The House That Griffey Built’, they call it.
As a child I idolized Griffey. There were two posters of sports posters in my room – one of Michael Jordan dunking, and the other of Griffey in his post-homer pose.
I was already fired up about baseball season. With the Griffey development, it can’t get here fast enough. I get to watch my childhood heroe go out (for better or for worse) in Seattle.
I’ll answer the questions currently racing through your mind:
Hit it here, Junior…
(I’m 14-years-old all over again.)
ND House Passes Abortion Ban
North Dakota’s House of Representatives has passed a bill effectively outlawing abortion.
The House voted 51-41 this afternoon to declare that a fertilized egg has all the rights of any person.
That means a fetus could not be legally aborted without the procedure being considered murder.
Do it.
You know you want to.
“Hey, Landon. I love your blog! I read it everyday!”
Sorry. You’re wrong. There are hundreds of blogs better than mine. I read them. You should too. And you should start your own, today.
It’s easy. You just start a blog. Take your time. Avoid burn-out. Realize that only 3 people are going to read it for the first week… 2 of those people will be your parents.

Obama Confronts a Choice on Copters:
President Obama has slammed high-flying executives traveling in cushy jets at a time of economic turmoil. But soon he will have to decide whether to proceed with some of the priciest aircraft in the world — a new fleet of 28 Marine One helicopters that will each cost more than the last Air Force One.
1. Make government open and transparent.
2. Make it “impossible” for Congressmen to slip in pork barrel projects.
3. Meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public. (Even Congressional Republicans shut out.)

5. Public will have 5 days to look at a bill.
6. You’ll know what’s in it.
