Charles Barkley hit Tommy Parrish, from Jasper, in the neck with a golf ball off the tee at the Regions Charity Classic Pro Am this week.
A colleague of mine is a former swimmer of UofW. In passing Thursday I referenced their recent announcement to shutter the program (budget issues) and referenced my swimming past in Jasper. Turns out, she grew up in Decatur, AL, and swam against the Jasper Swim Team in head-to-head match-up, at TVC, and at State in Dothan. She distinctly remember the Jasper Swim Team (who wouldn’t, right?) and aptly named us as one of their biggest rivals.
Small world.
