Feel like I’m the only person over 8 who’s excited about this.

[My legs are not sexy.]
I’m convinced that the only thing worse than packing to depart the beach is the unpacking once at home. Being constantly reminded by sand grains and sunscreen scent which cover each piece of clothing as it’s pulled from a suitcase and placed into the washing machine.
I don’t know whether I want to smile or frown about this ad featuring a city just a stone’s throw from Jasper.
Aside from the fact that the iPhone audio makes the wind sounds like a hurricane is approaching, this is pretty much perfect.
Coming to you live from the beach. This is our first long vacation since Christmas (which is only 60-something days away) so the blog (aside from the occasional mid-workday beach photo) will be quite dead.
Enjoy your work week.
Mark Driscoll is now blogging over at the Washington Post. His first blog post from Wednesday:
Q: What makes the best ‘case for God’ to a skeptic or non-believer, an open-minded seeker, and to a person of faith and Why?
Answer
Jesus.Christianity is not first and foremost about a sacred place to pilgrimage to, a philosophical system to ponder, a moral code to live, a religious tradition to honor, or an impersonal god to experience. Rather, Christianity is about a person who claimed to be the only God and said he would prove his unprecedented claim by living without sin, dying for sinners, and conquering death through resurrection.
So, as Christians, our aim is not to convince people of some god in general, but to introduce them to Jesus in particular.
The thought of e-readers has never tickled my fancy, but the leaked photos of the eBook from Barnes & Noble make me want to buy one right now.
Great piece from the New York Times on the newly opened Stumptown:
The barista who took my order at Stumptown Coffee Roasters possessed the bone structure of a male model. He was tall and focused and had a tattoo of a schooner on his forearm.
He called me “sir.â€
It was a level of ceremony — or even civility — you don’t usually encounter when jockeying for an espresso in New York.
And you don’t usually come across an espresso ($2.50) this exceptional anywhere in the world.
Stumptown, which opened in the Ace Hotel earlier this month, puts a polish on the fanaticism of what’s known as coffee’s “Third Wave.†It’s a movement of purists (no flavorings, please) and obsessives (bags of micro-lot beans are labeled with the latitude, longitude and elevation where grown).
Arguably, this is New York’s first farm-to-cup cafe. Stumptown was started in Portland, Ore., by Duane Sorenson, a legend in coffee circles. The company is known for an intensity that’s part punk, part religion.
When Costco starts slinging Christmas stuff at you via email, while it might not be Christmastime, it is get-ready-for-Christmastime.
It’s always interesting to see how my daily website selections changes over the months and years.
In no particular order: Drudge Report for news… Huffington Post to better understand the left’s talking points will be… Seattle Times… NY Times Most Popular… Kottke… BigGoldNation for all things Southern Miss… LinkedIn… Uncrate… Twitter… Facebook…
It’s very rare that Qwest Field gets silent, but when Owen Schmitt got his introduction at Sunday’s Seahawks game, Chelsea and I were among the first two to stop our yelling and drop our jaws.
A couple of season 4 promos, plus a write up [spoiler alert!].
…until Thanksgiving. Already overly -excited about our annual family Thanksgiving Day movie.
