When I was a child I the three posters on my walls: Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan, and Ken Griffey Jr. You guessed it… I wanted to be an African American athlete when I grew up.

Spoiler Alert: I became neither African American nor an athlete, both of which I am saddened by.

Ken Griffey Jr. is by far my most favorite athlete ever, regardless of sport. Classy, honest, and perfect in his prime. The fact that I’ve lived in Seattle to seen him return with the Reds and come back to the Mariners makes me incredibly happy.
