I had a dream that I slept through Christmastime 2010, falling asleep November 24 and waking at 9 PM on Christmas Eve.

It was the worst dream ever.

The one where I ask for something for Christmas

Aside from crafting the most vague Santa Letter ever, I’m not sure if my drawing helped or hindered Santa in his quest to meet my demands.

Mom found this letter to Santa while cleaning out some old boxes the other day. Evidently I wanted a Christmas tree, a donkey with rabbit ears, a floating piece of macaroni, a gingerbread man with elephantiasis, a gift wrapped by a blind man, and a… I actually don’t know what that thing on the far left was.

Taking the love of Christmas to a whole new level

Spotted this (and another light Christmas tree next to it) walking back through Lower Queen Anne on Saturday night.

In a city where the number of dogs is twice the number of Christians, any Christmas spirit is welcome… even if it is April.

Our neighbors took 1 month to take down their Christmas lights.
posted on Jan 28 2010

[Actual grainy, walking while photographing, trying-not-to-be-creepy photo from last Friday.]

It took exactly 1 month from Christmas day for our neighbors (and their neighbors) to take down their Christmas tree and turn off their Christmas lights.

The most interesting part? The lights were on and the blinds open all day, every day. Excessive electricity use and prolonged Christmas celebration? Are we sure this is Seattle?

To be honest, it didn’t really bother me. Christmastime went by entirely too quickly, the presence of the lights helped to slowly ease me out of the spirit. One could easily argue that lights mustn’t be taken down right after you open your presents Christmas morning. Modern day tradition holds that lights and decorations be left up until New Years Day. In which case, they are only 3 weeks behind. Far be it from me the be the Christmas Czar (unless Obama needs one of those, too) but January 25th seems like a little odd, even for decorations at the North Pole.

Happy post-Christmas Break Monday
posted on Jan 4 2010

[Home for the first time in 12 months.]

Feels like it’s been a while. Happy 2010 to you all. Now get to work… it is Monday morning.

I’ll assume we’re all back at work, home safely from multiple vacations and excursions. Needless to say, it was quite interesting being in Alabama this year.

You don’t realize how much you miss home until you leave home for an extended period.

  • 3-hour trip to the Vegas strip in-between flights.
  • CHRISTMAS!!!
  • First time in Jasper since last Christmas.
  • On the road: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana.
  • Spoiled our niece.
  • Jackson for friends, Keifer’s, and cub-par espresso at Cups.
  • WWII Museum in New Orleans. Incredible.
  • Seahawks go out in 2009 fashion with a lackluster loss to the Titans.
  • I get closer than this to Griffey, but my iPhone messed up. Photos didn’t show. I cry.
  • Started Christmas countdown for 2010.

    Merry Christmas.

Hard to believe another year has come and gone, and Christmas Every Day comes to a close.

Hope you enjoy the next 24 hours. Create some memories, eat too much, and if you wake up tomorrow morning with coal in your stocking… you probably deserve it.

    Luke 2:1-20 (King James Version)
1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
