Nightline is doing a series on the 10 Commandments, one segment featuring Chick-fil-A.
Does Cathy ever go into a mall on Sunday, and see a dark, shuttered Chick fil-A, and see all the other stores open, and think, maybe?
No, never.
“I think, isn’t that incredible, isn’t that neat?” Cathy said. “That we can be closed on Sunday? We’re generating more business in six days than all these other tenants are generating in seven? And we can be with our family.”
Going back into the old school files. Anybody remember ‘Book It!’?
I can remember the anticipation of waiting by the counter at Pizza Hut for that small peperoni pizza. I’d think about that free pizza with every turn of the page in my book.

Don’t know why I’m following Chick-fil-A on Twitter. It only encourages me to go crazy.
Drew Thornley over at Man Up BBQ had what might be the most beautiful BBQ plate I’ve ever seen. Take a gander.

Per my update… best meal I’ve ever had.

Each time I eat a Southern Style Chicken Sandwhich at McDonald’s, I feel like I’m cheating on Chick-fil-A.
This post from blog-reader Jody Gambrell’s blog brought back memories:
280 pizzas… ordered in just over 7 months in Student Ministry.
I’m on a waffle kick lately. I prefer Eggos… Homestyle, with a moderate side of syrup.
Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? Waffles.
Chelsea’s offering to steam some vegetables? Waffles.
Leftover pizza from the night before? Waffles.
Anybody else on a ‘kick’ lately?

#1? Chick.
Between the breakfast and lunch menus, there are only two entrées at Chick-Fil-A that break 500 calories, a rare feat in the fast-food world. What this means is that you can’t possibly do too much harm—especially if you stick to the chicken. And unlike the typical fast-food chain, Chick-Fil-A offers a list of sides that goes beyond breaded and fried potatoes and onions. (Just beware the large cole slaw, which adds an extra 600 calories to your daily intake!) That’s why we dub the Atlanta-based chicken shack one of our all-time favorite fast-food restaurants.

Another edition of the saga that is the Chick-fil-A-less Pacific Northwest. This one has a happy ending.
Last weekend we went to Vancouver, British Columbia for the day, stopping (once agan) by Western Washington University to see if their Chick could meet our expectations. It did.

We even bumped into 3 twentysomethings who had also driven from Seattle, just to get Chick-fil-A. They even bought some food to go: 15 boxes of nuggets and 5 sandwiches… which they indicated would be frozen, and eaten over the next few days.
Chick-fil-A Express, as it is so lovingly called, only serves a select menu of 8 lunch and breakfast items (no ice cream, fudge nut brownies, sweet tea). Beggars can’t be choosers.
Mom and Dad are in Jackson, MS for the day, and I couldn’t help but reminisce about post-college lunches with many of you when we used to rendezvous on a seemingly daily basis.

Long story short (for anyone who doesn’t know and slightly cares):
-
I love Chick-fil-A at a level most would deem unhealthy. The closest Chick-fil-A to Seattle is 612.54 miles away — that was, until Chick-fil-A opened up a Chick-fil-A Express on the campus of Western Washington University, just 2 hours north of Seattle.
We decided to take a day trip to Canada last weekend, planning to swing by Western Washington University (WWU) en route to Vancouver.
Picture the sad person I am: staring at the GPS all along the way… 95 miles to WWU… 36 miles to WWU… 1.5 miles to WWU. It was like I was a 4-year-old child on Christmas Eve.
Martin Luther King had a dream. A dream that one day all races would be equal.
Well, Dr. King… I too had a dream. A dream that I would eat Chick-fil-A for the first time in 1 month. A dream that a Chick-fil-A in the state of Washington might just be more than a dream… an actual reality. That dream was squashed as WWU decided to close their Student Union over the weekend which coincided with MLK Day.
(To answer your question: Wendy’s chili… that’s what we ended up having for lunch. Wonderful… but not Chick-fil-A.)
