Like many of you, I was overly excited about Apple’s announcement. Now that all has been announced, I’m highly underwhelmed. [On a side note, I'm truly considering not getting excited about anything as my track record (Watchmen, Daybreakers, the 2009 Southern Miss football season) is less than stellar as of late.]
No video, camera, Flash (aka: you ain’t watching Hulu on this), phone/video conferencing. They didn’t even make it a widescreen.
And that name. Ew.
Gizmodo lays out every one of my thoughts, and a couple I didn’t think about. My primary problem with this device? Lack of multitasking.
No Multitasking
This is a backbreaker. If this is supposed to be a replacement for netbooks, how can it possibly not have multitasking? Are you saying I can’t listen to Pandora while writing a document? I can’t have my Twitter app open at the same time as my browser? I can’t have AIM open at the same time as my email? Are you kidding me? This alone guarantees that I will not buy this product.
Now if you will excuse me, I’m going to resume my e-reader consideration process until Apple creates something better than a “Super iPod Touch”. Look for a MacTablet coming in January 2011. It will do everything this device does not.
I broke down and selected the iPhone over the much anticipated Palm Pre one month ago. I’ve never looked back.
One of the favorite (and free) apps I’ve come to live by is the KEXP appplication which streams live music from KEXP in Seattle. Bookmark a song you like, or buy the song/album through the iTunes link.
I’d already forgotten that the iPod Mini and the iPod Nano were two different products.
Click image for 7 years of the iPod.
Just what’s on Michael Phelps’ iPod anyway?
In the second installment of the iMix, I’ve narrowed the song from 16 to 10. That way you can feel a lot better about spending less than 10 bucks on great music. Again… some are old, some are new; though I wouldn’t put them in here unless I thought you needed to hear them.
In a new feature on the blog, I’ve started the Landon Howell iMix. (Yeah, it’s cheesy, but roll with it.)
Now, any music I find of interest I will be placing into podcasts, thus making it easier for you to pick up via iTunes. Some are old, some are new. Some are red, some are blue.
If you have iTunes on your computer, check out iMix : Volume 1.
A current list of songs that are getting some hefty playing-time on my iPod. The first song you can hear via the player on the right.
I’m doubting I’ll drop my Treo for this… but it gives us a picture of what the future iPod’s will be like.
So, you got an iPod for Chritmas and what do you have to say for it?
“I don’t know what to do next.”
I’ve had mine for a year and a day as of December 26th. I wonder what I ever did without it. However, I was the exact same way this time last year.
“What do I do?” “Where do I go? “How to I buy things”
So, I’ve taken the liberty of posting some of my favorite iPod links below.
Some tips and tricks?
Remember that your iPod is not just for music. If you see me at the gym, most of the time I’m listening to sermons I downloaded or free. Free speeches are also available at Audible. Don’t forget about books-on-tape… errr, books-on-ipod. Audible is great for that.
But first, download itunes and then connect your iPod. After that, have fun.
If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email or call me.
Some of my favorite iLinks (cute, huh?)

I’m happy to announce that Apple has admitted my podcasts into its iTunes database. You can subscribe to the podcast here. Also, feel free to add a heartfelt review of the podcast.
The podcasts are obviously free… just so we’re clear.
However, should you feel the need to slip a $20 in my g-string at Christmastime when I bend over to to pick up your present from under the tree, I won’t complain.
Podcasts can still be downloaded for free from Odeo, as well. Also head to my Odeo profile to listen to any podcast at any time. Except for the fact that there’s only one right now… sorry.
Enjoy.
Some recent iTunes purchases… none of which I regret.

~In the running for my fav album of the year.
Within the next two weeks I will be beginning a short 3 mintue podcast that will be released once per week. It will available on Odeo and iTunes for free. You will also be able to listen to it straight from the blog without having to download a thing.
Aren’t I considerate?
This is just something fun to add another dimension to the blog. Plus it gives mom and pop a way to hear their sons accent slowly lose some of its Southern twang as he adjusts to life in the PacNo.
Alright. ‘Tis all.
