Yes… you read that correctly. The university whose football team finds itself as the butt of 90% of the jokes on this blog is actually getting my support for one weekend, and one weekend only. Like every non-Alabama fan in this world, I want to see Alabama lose. And not just lose… but lose to State.

I’ll even take it one step further: if someone mails me an MSU cowbell, I’ll post a video ringing the bell whilst doing one of State’s lyrically predictable awesome cheers. I’ll also pay for the shipping.

A press conference has been called for Thursday at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame where officials from Mississippi State and Southern Miss are expected to announce a series between the two schools.

Mississippi State and Southern Miss last played in 1990 when the series ended. They played 16 straight years from 1975-90. Southern Miss leads the series 14-12-1.

This is not an April fools joke. Mississippi State fans can bid to be a football coach… in the Spring game, that is.

The winning bidder will become the head coach of the “White” team in the spring game, which will be televised live by CSS. As head coach, the lucky fan will participate in staff meetings as the teams are “drafted,” give the pregame speech and make the tough gameday decisions for their team.

Whoa whoa whoa… I thought Maroon was the only color that mattered. (Racists.)

Thought I would overlook Southern Miss’ 10-7 win over No. 25 Mississippi State? How wrong you were.

Really hate that I’m not in Jackson to enjoy that ballpark.

I pick on Mississippi State enough, so I thought I’d say something nice (it being Christmastime and all) because I really, really like the new Mississippi State logo. I also love the fact that the AD said that the ‘maroon helmet is here to stay.’ Smart choice.

MC Welcomes MSU Coach Croom to Wild Game Dinner

MC Athletic Director Mike Jones said the event should raise about $100,000. “Our athletic department at Mississippi College owes much of our success directly to the Wild Game Dinner.”

In the event a Tornado Watch or Tornado Warning is issued for Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, authorities are asking everyone in the vicinity of Starkville to take shelter at Davis-Wade Stadium at Scott Field. Authorities are 99% certain a touchdown will not occur there.

It’s hard to brag about a 3-2 win… but only Mississippi State could manage to hold #9 Auburn to 3 points and still lose.

What effect does this have on the Bulldog nation?

- Your fans are very, very restless.

After watching Auburn shutdown one of the best RBs in college football last week and still put up 27 points despite two red zone turnovers… Saturday is going to be a long day in Starkville. If State wins… it’s going to be a long week on this blog.

Mississippi State fans: I’m throwing you a bone.

It’ s been a rough week (heck, a rough 7 years for you) and it doesn’t quite look like the end is in sight… so, here’s something to forward to all your Ole Miss friends.

…you should know that Mississippi State lost to Louisiana Tech. This doesn’t hold a candle to the Maine loss of 2004, but I still find it rather humorous.

So help me, if you guys lose to Southeastern Louisiana you are never going to hear the end of this from myself and the rest of the entire Southeastern Conference.

In defense of the Bulldog Nation… Louisiana Tech’s stadium is almost as loud as Death Valley in Baton Rouge.

Mississippi State Announces Croom Contract Details

Southern Miss topped Mississippi State in baseball action on Tuesday night (and a second time on Wednesday night). Mississippi State coach Ron Polk went out in style, calling the USM fans “the worst”. When pressed for an answer as to who was all up in his grill… he responded: “only eight or nine of them”

Nice.

Pete Taylor Park holds 5,377 people. So… 0.0168% of fans in Hattiesburg were rude, so that means everybody is then classified as “the worst”. Ahhhh, the joy of an MSU “dynasty” establisher past their prime. You create a winning program, suddenly you start to lose your edge, then you start point a crooked senile finger at anyone within 10 feet as your ship starts to sink into Mississippi mud. Sounds like someone is pulling a Sherrill.
