    Though most American Idol winners have been men, female winners have outperformed their male counterparts 6 to 1 when it comes to album sales, largely because of the runaway success of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. The two most successful male veterans of the reality TV show, Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken, weren’t winners.

    The Diet Coke ad which ran during the Oscars (with incredible music: Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap) panders to those of us who are addicts, and I’m alright with being pandered to.
