It’s just amazing. If you’re going to take visitors to five locations in the Birmingham area, this should be in your top 3.
We also happened to be there on a day where the Porsche Sport Driving School was in session, so that added to the ambiance.

Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need… roads.
Back To The Future is one of, if not my favorite movie of all time. I love the first, LOVE the second, like the third (trains? we needed trains to make this more compelling?).
We were invited to an 80s themed Halloween party, and the choice was obvious: be everyone’s favorite childhood time traveler. However, I should note that we were worried that things might get heavy if no one recognized us.
You can’t tell, but I’m wearing a maroon undershirt and my white collared shirt is checkered in blue… just like Marty’s. (I worked hard and want credit, y’all… which is sad.)
Inspired by these…

Halloween from years past is below.

2010: Ralphie & The Leg Lamp, A Christmas Story

2009: Eric & Tami Taylor, Friday Night Lights

2008: Joan Holloway and Don Draper Pete Campbell, Mad Men

2007: Jim and Pam, The Office

So I got this idea around 11:59 PM night before last. I thought it would be fun to take some of my photos and turn them into iPhone wallpaper. (It’s not overly complicated but I’m going to make it sound difficult so that you’ll be like “awww, that was nice of him” but it really wasn’t that hard.)
They’re here. They’re free. Take as many as you like.
Taken in San Francisco during a March business trip.
End result is a creative, unique city service that’s memorable as it is effective.

Many of your followed our cross-country trek on Facebook and Twitter, so I’ll just post the highlights.
If you want to view these and the rest, head over to Flickr.

Needless to say, I got lots and lots of stares as I stood in the parking lot of Oregon’s athletic department in my bright orange Auburn shirt. It was well worth it. War Eagle.

Chelsea’s car was broken into on night one. We found this out quite literally as the words “Sacramento seems like a really safe city” left my mouth. Thankfully, nothing of significant importance was taken.

In-N-Out is one of those burgers that, upon initial consumption I was never blown away by. My last few experiences have made me nothing but an obsessed devourer and blind loyalist.

So scarred by the break in, we felt the need to drive through Palm Springs for an evening at the Rancho Las Palmas.

The bartender at Rancho Las Palmas inquired if she could use us as guinea pigs for new drinks. We did could, could never be able to, consume them all.

Meteor Crater, AZ. Self explanatory and mind-blowing.

Like The Eagles, I’ve stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. That’s a flatbed Ford. Evidently the ‘girl in the flatbed Ford’ was on her lunch break.

All you could ever need from Snowpocalypse 2010 from the Seattle P-I. Seriously… all you can ever want.
After a broken tooth (yes, broken… not chipped) was addressed by the dentist on Tuesday, I got home a little earlier than normal, enjoying late afternoon from the living room.
I will never get tired of this view.
Ever since we started gong out on Halloween in Seattle we’ve always made an effort to “match”.
Our first three years we were TV characters, usually from whatever show had become our favorite in the months leading to Halloween.
This year we talked about mixing it up, and during a discussion of our favorite time of the year (hellooooooo) A Christmas Story came up.
Like many of you, A Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. Being Ralphie in his bunny suit and dressing Chelsea up as the “Major Award” leg lamp seemed logical (video).
By the way, that’s an actual lamp shade with actual working lights inside. Kudos, wifey.

I decided to do a little tabulating last night. Come to find out that the photo I’ve sold more of than any other is one of the more common photos that anyone could take. Mind The Gap I snapped in 2008 when Chelsea and I went to London for New Years.
Don’t misunderstand. I like the photo. Most who’ve traveled to London get a smile on their face when they see the famous phrase. But there are other, more unique shots that never get snagged.
The Hollywood photo is one of my more favorite photos, yet not one copy has ever sold. I love the photo. No artsy analysis needed.
It was cold, raining, and I hadn’t eaten in 7 hours, but I was bound and determined to get a shot of the Eiffel Tower with those pretty clouds cutting diagonally in the background.
It’s still one of my favorite moments from Europe.
Nashville-based photographer Jeremy Cowart is one of my favorites. He’s in Haiti photographing the devastation, as well as the survivors. Follow his twitter for photos from the scene.
