The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others’ burdens, easing other’s loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas.

Question of the day: How did you “find out” about Santa Claus?

How To Tell Your Children About Santa Claus
posted on Dec 2 2008

Holidash says there are basically 3 schools of thought when it comes to telling your children about Santa Claus:

The Cold, Hard Truth: “That’s right, son, I’m Santa. But we only lied to you to make Christmas more magical for you. Now suck it up and don’t ruin it for your little brother.”

Get Metaphysical: “Santa might not be real, technically. But in a way, we’re all a part of the spirit of Christmas, so in a way you could say we’re all Santa Claus.” A variation of this is the “Santa lives in our hearts” line.

The Dodge: “Mom, are you Santa?” “I certainly hope not – *wink*.” Parents who use this technique refuse to acknowledge the truth, even after their kids become parents themselves.

We’ve had this question around here before, though it’s always fun to ask for those who’ve changed their minds, and for those who’ve never answered.

If you could live in any city in the world, what would that city be?

Mine has always been Seattle (that’s why I move here, crazy face) though if I had to move from here somewhere else… it’d be to the pretty city pictured — London.

(Chelsea hates it when I take pictures of her)
