I’m ashamed that one of you didn’t forward this to me before I found it yesterday.

No way this movie can live up to my expectations. Anybody catch any midnight screenings to give us a hint as to whether or not this will fly or flop?
Reviews for Watchmen keep sliding onto the websites all across the Internet. Rotten Tomatoes currently has the film ranked at 73% (Tuesday night) with the scathing reviews continuing from those who read the comic book (I have not) and did not like the adaptation.

io9 did a great job of providing a brief overview of all-things-Watchmen.
What Is Watchmen?
Who Are The Watchmen?
Why Is Watchmen So Important?
Why Was Watchmen Supposed To Be Unfilmable?
Where Does It Take Place?
Who’s The Giant Blue Guy?
What’s With Characters With “II” After Their Names, Like Nite Owl II And Silk Spectre II?
What Is Tales of The Black Freighter, Anyway?

I’ve never read the comic book, though the only people who have provided bad reviews (primarily with the ending of the movie) are those who have read the comic book.
Aside from the ending, they have good things to say.
Via The Guardian…
Pundits have been impressed by the film’s detailed canvas, its adherence to the storyline followed by the original comic – which centers on a world threatened with imminent nuclear apocalypse – and its refusal to stint on scenes of a sexual or violent nature. This is an 18-rated superhero movie which makes last year’s famously brooding Batman sequel The Dark Knight look like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

They’re mixed:
The multi-million dollar comic book adaptation Watchmen, one of 2009′s most eagerly awaited films, has had its world premiere in London, and reviews generally cast the movie as classy but no classic.
What is this? I’m excited to see something via The Huffiington Post?
“For those just watching Watchmen for the Watchmen, without any expectations or knowledge of the comic’s storyline or historical importance, this really will be a blast,”

Chelsea and I have slightly differing opinions about Watchmen.
I never anything about the comic book or the movie until I saw the preview before The Dark Knight. After I read up on the whole phenomenon, I was hooked (though my pseudo geek tendency doesn’t venture so far as to read the comic book).
Chelsea’s convinced that it’ll be good… but she’s not quite sold on the fact that all of America will turn out to watch Watchmen on March 6.
