My twitter page is a Christmas explosion. May be taking Christmas too far this year.
It’s always interesting to see how my daily website selections changes over the months and years.
In no particular order: Drudge Report for news… Huffington Post to better understand the left’s talking points will be… Seattle Times… NY Times Most Popular… Kottke… BigGoldNation for all things Southern Miss… LinkedIn… Uncrate… Twitter… Facebook…
Met a guy in the movie theater Friday night who has been working on Bing.com for Microsoft for the better part of the last 12 months. He was super excited (I would say too excited) about today’s debut.
Do yourself a favor and “Bing yourself” to see what it can produce.
For those who are interested, I have created an MC Communications Alumni group on LinkedIn. Feel free to connect personally, or if you have not done so already, create an account download star trek the wrath of khan dvd .

More and more of you have jumped on the Twitter bandwagon. Feel free to add yours truly and receive the blog post updates via Twitter during the day.
Also, feel free to add your Twitter page to the comments section (even if you’ve added it before).
Brilliant piece on just who the heck edits Wikipedia…
- “…it turns out over 50% of all the edits are done by just .7% of the users … 524 people. … And in fact the most active 2%, which is 1400 people, have done 73.4% of all the edits.”
Many of you share my affinity for the Drudge Report. After all, it is the most timely, to-the-point, non biased news sources in the world. At 12,000,000 hits per day… hoe can one go wrong? One of my favorite blogs did an article on Why the Drudge Report is one of the best designed sites on the web.

MC Communication Dept alumni will enjoy the updated logo and look of the department website.

Folks have inquired about purchasing photos I take. I never take pictures with the thought of ever selling them, but Seattle’s an expensive city to live in, so I thoughtwhattheheckwhynot?
LandonHowellPhotography is a site I have owned for a while now in the case that I ever decided to sell anything. Now I’ve made them publicly available for sale on Etsy.
Thus far 23 photos have been posted and 5 have been sold… it freaks me out that 4 of those hang in homes of people I’ve never met. Elizabeth Barge (college buddy and blog read) purchased another last week after inquiring about obtaining one that wasn’t posted. So know that any are available for purchase if they ever catch your eye.
If you ever have any questions about photos or obtaining one you’ve seen, feel free to contact me.
{ By the way: Some of you have asked about the book that was to be released a few months back. Long story short: the book was complete, my laptop was stolen, I didn’t have a back-up copy. Yikes. }

I emailed the author who broke the news (email addresses and screen shots included) about Palin’s email hacking.
Gawker used to be a fun, resourceful, snarky-humor blog… and now it’s full of photos of the Olsen Twins and posts about media tycoons that only Upper West Side yuppies give two flips about. These days their authors get paid crummy wages while they slave to obtain large page views which (they hope) will in turn lead to 1) more money, and 2) better job offers from the world’s top magazines, newspapers, etc.
Alex Pareene defends the Gawker post his the last sentence of the article: “It’s newsworthy and we will not be taking it down!â€
The author who posted this obviously has no class or tact. Our email exchanges are below…
- “It’s newsworthy and we will not be taking it down!”
It’s illegal and bears the mark of someone who wants to be a journalist but can’t achieve their goal in a legitimate way.
Good luck in life.

I dunno, I’m getting paid. Can’t complain about that!

We all get paid… some of us do it in a way that builds our careers, not our unique page views.
As someone who use to own his own news blog (being linked on every Gawker Media blog at the time) I understand that page views will increase your monthly paycheck… but it won’t earn you respect in the journalistic job circles that really matter. Because that is, of course, the only reason anyone works at Gawker: to get the next job.

Well it should please you as a rebellious conservative that the last thing I care about accruing is respect in journalistic job cirlces.

You might be accruing a little more than you originally bargained for: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/18/palin_email_investigation/

I haven’t yet received a response.
And yes… Alex misspelled ‘cirlces.’

A frame-by-frame of the Phelps/Cavic finish.
Also, a blog entry from Cavic:
- “On winning a SILVER medal: I am completely happy, and still in complete disbelief that I was able to achieve this feat! I’m not joking… It’s a tough loss, but I’m on cloud nine. I congratulated Phelps and his coach Bob Bowman. I’m just glad the race was fun to watch for everyone. It was a pleasure for me, really.”
And yes, there are conspiracy theorists.
I’m about social-networked out, though I’ve added a link to my Plaxo page to my links on the right. If you are already a member, feel free to add me as a contact.

The Olympic links at the top of the page have been updated to provide you with the links I feel most will most likely seek: video archives, Olympic schedule, the medal count, and the NBC Beijing blog. And of course, sports reporting isn’t complete without some Deadspin
