Coffee is good for you

I know that everyone thinks they drink a lot of coffee, but I drink a lot of coffee.

It’s my one true vice in that I will drink it any time I feel like, and pay any amount without so much as blinking an eye.

I mean… how expensive can coffee truly be? Therein lies the beauty of coffee as a vice. Unlike alcohol where a single glass can cost you $200 for a single pour, the worst damage a coffee can do to your wallet is a ~$12 cup from Blue Bottle (which is totally and completely worth it, btw).

So… how much coffee is too much coffee?

Notes & Highlights

  • Drinking coffee has been linked to a reduced risk of all kinds of ailments, including Parkinson’s disease, melanoma, prostate cancer, even suicide.

  • …consumption has been linked to a reduced risk of all kinds of ailments, including Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, gallstones, depression, suicide, cirrhosis, liver cancer, melanoma and prostate cancer.

  • …those who drank three to five cups of coffee a day, with or without caffeine, were 15 percent less likely to die early from all causes than were people who shunned coffee. Perhaps most dramatic was a 50 percent reduction in the risk of suicide among both men and women who were moderate coffee drinkers…

    • Note: That is a LARGE denominator and a LONG amount of time to be studying individuals.
