Notes: Types of entrepreneurs

Notes and highlights from by Types of entrepreneurs by Jonathan Gheller.

I liked this because 1) I’ve never thought about it in this context before, and 2) the presented graphic was simple and memorable.

  • “…business is an excellent way for the creative and independent-minded to make a dent in the world.”

    • Note: We tend to think about entrepreneurs as these raging bulls barreling through an industry in an attempt to collect all the cash. That may be fair, and it might be a result, but in my experience working with and for successful, high-growth startups, I’ve found that great CEOs are excellent at 1) getting obsessed with a problem or opportunity, and 2) constantly creatively solving, macro and micro, for that problem or opportunity.

  • “One of the reasons these three guys are legendary is that they are the best in the world in one of these archetypes and top 99% on the other two.”

  • “I think ‘build something people want’ aims at helping artisans become more business minded. the ‘MVP’ philosophy is aimed at helping business people think about the iterative nature of a craft. ‘Move fast and break things’ is meant to help artisans think more like politicians; to show how the world can be changed (hopefully for the better) if you put enough energy behind your efforts.”
