7 of the 20 Southeastern Startup Unicorns are in Atlanta
After two years of living in Atlanta I’m more excited than ever about what Atlanta-based and Techstars Atlanta-backed companies are building. The most recent report from Crunchbase is another indicator of startup and tech traction in Atlanta.
In 2021 there are 19 unicorns in the Southeast, 7 of the 20 are in Georgia, all of which are headquartered in Atlanta.
Georgia’s seven unicorns is more than any other state in the Southeast.
Five southeastern states have at least one unicorn: Florida (5), North Carolina (4), South Carolina (1), Tennessee (1), Virginia (2). Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky currently have no unicorns.
