SB 848 and startups
A new, great law in California that will impact most startups: Employers must give up to five days off for employees dealing with reproductive loss.
β’ California SB 848 has now been signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
β’ Reproductive loss includes the following: failed adoption, surrogacy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and unsuccessful assisted reproduction.
β’ Given that over 25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage and nearly one-third of women may experience post-traumatic stress disorder following such a loss, this legislation promises to be a significant asset for startups aiming to support the well-being of their teammates.
