SB 848 and startups

A new, great law in California that will impact most startups: Employers must give up to five days off for employees dealing with reproductive loss.

β€’ California SB 848 has now been signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

β€’ Reproductive loss includes the following: failed adoption, surrogacy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and unsuccessful assisted reproduction.

β€’ Given that over 25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage and nearly one-third of women may experience post-traumatic stress disorder following such a loss, this legislation promises to be a significant asset for startups aiming to support the well-being of their teammates.
