I can hear the bells

This one is for all my marketing and creative folks who often have a last-minute conviction for a campaign idea.

Hershey's "Christmas Bells" advertisement debuted in 1989. The ad was pitched at the 11th hour to Ogilvy leadership.

Three decades later, it is Hershey's longest-running television commercial. I don't think I'm alone in saying that this commercial brings the same nostalgia as any Christmas song or movie.

This is the original. The commercial was upgraded in 2012 from stop-motion animation to CGI. The commercial was β€œupdated” again in 2020, a hand reaching into the frame, but the 2020 version was quickly shelved because even thirty years later, people love the original.
